The United States will lift travel restrictions on eight African countries on December 31, which were imposed to slow the spread of the Omicron variant, a White House spokesman said on Twitter on Friday.

Arriving on American soil is currently prohibited for people coming from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi.
