The number of farmers benefiting from the Fund for Mitigating the Effects of Drought and Natural Disasters at the Ministry of Agriculture for this year has reached 57,400 farmers as a result of the damage they received to their crops, and the value of compensation amounted to 6 billion pounds.
The director of the fund, Engineer Muhammad Abu Hammoud, indicated in a statement to SANA that the number of beneficiaries since the foundation of the fund in 2011 until now has reached 31,2019 farmers, with a compensation value of 14.4 billion Syrian pounds.
Abu Hammoud indicated that the fund provides compensation for losses of more than 50 percent in agricultural production, in addition to the damaged area exceeding 5 percent of the area of the administrative unit for plant production, provided that the damages are caused by drought, natural disasters, or climatic and environmental conditions.
He pointed out that the farmer whose agricultural production has been exposed to drought or natural disasters must possess an agricultural organization or sensory detection earlier than the date of the damage, and attach a photo file (photo-video) of the damage, and that the name of the breeder is included in the tables of livestock numbers if the damage is Livestock shall prove the state of the damage by virtue of a statement determining the damages it is doing
The area committee is duly based on a request submitted by the person concerned to the fund department to which it belongs, prior to the demise of the impact of the disaster and within a maximum period of two weeks from the date of the damage.
