The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Dr. Muhammad Essam Hazeheh, announced that the owners of activities whose nature of work requires large daily withdrawals can obtain approval through the bank they deal with to exceed the daily withdrawal limit set at 2 million Syrian pounds based on a written request showing the need to do so.
During his meeting with a group of administrative and economic activities in Hama Governorate, in the presence of Governor Muhammad Tariq Krishati, on the occasion of the opening of a new branch of Al Baraka Bank Syria, Hazemeh explained that raising the daily withdrawal ceiling for depositors with banks operating in Syria will be linked later to the electronic payment system because there are no ceilings for electronic payments.
And regarding the Central’s control over the process of financing imports in foreign exchange, he explained that the goal is to control the exchange rate and reduce the manipulation of money changers outside Syria with the quantity and prices of foreign exchange entering it, indicating that the Central continues to inform the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection of the real prices for financing imports according to the lists that are presented in a manner A period of exchange companies licensed for financing, with the aim of adopting it when pricing the product for final consumption.
Regarding the governor’s meeting with representatives of banks operating in Syria about two weeks ago, Hazeheh explained that a decision was taken to allow public and private banks to grant loans to establish, restore or complete industrial projects according to a list that includes the most important projects according to the current need, including alternative energy projects.
