The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda distributed a grant of wheat seed provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO” in cooperation with the Union of Chambers of Agriculture and under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.
The Director of Agriculture in As-Suwayda, Engineer Ayham Hamed, stated in a statement to SANA reporter today that the grant included 445 beneficiaries from farmers in the city of As-Suwayda and the villages and towns of Al-Mazraa, Al-Teira, Al-Tha’lah, Ura and Walga, and included the distribution of 200 kilograms of wheat seed to each beneficiary.
The Director of Agriculture indicated that the grant recipients were selected based on a set of criteria and criteria, including the most needy families and women-headed families.
The Director of Agriculture pointed out the importance of the grant provided within the urgent aid project to wheat farmers to encourage the cultivation of the crop after the drought conditions last season, as well as helping them to face the high prices of production requirements and the damage from the conditions of the crisis, climatic changes and the repercussions of the Corona virus, in a way that enhances their food security and their ability to withstand.
The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda distributed during the current year a grant of net expenditures for the production of vegetable seedlings, provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in cooperation with the Union of Chambers of Agriculture, benefiting 210 families.
