The volume of exports through Nassib border crossing with Jordan has increased significantly since its resumption at the end of last September until today, as the number of trucks loaded with exports that crossed the customs secretariat of the crossing during the last quarter of this year reached more than 5,300 freight cars, an average of 75 trucks per day.

Customs Secretary Nassib Hussein Mustafa told SANA delegate that most of the exports are fruits, plastic products and various foodstuffs, as the volume of exported fruits during the last quarter of this year amounted to more than 70,000 tons according to the season, at a rate of one thousand tons per day.

The number of trucks loaded with imports that entered through the crossing since its resumption of work has exceeded 4 thousand trucks, at a rate of 59 trucks per day, according to Mustafa, who indicated that most of the imports are raw materials for industry, including plastic granules, power panels, batteries, fabrics and threads.

The number of customs smuggling cases registered at the Nassib Customs Secretariat since the beginning of the year has reached about 220 cases, the total value of which is more than 5 and a half billion Syrian pounds in fines. About 3 billion Syrian pounds have been collected from them, according to Mustafa, revealing that most of these cases are from import smuggling.

With regard to the transit movement, Mustafa indicated that the number of transit trucks that entered daily in the last quarter of the year was 22 trucks, and 33 trucks exited.

The Nassib-Jaber crossing was reopened on the Syrian-Jordanian border on the 29th of last September to receive the movement of passengers and goods and activate the commercial and tourism movement between the two countries.
