On New Year's Eve, three more nuclear power plants will be shut down in Germany.
According to the legal requirements, the nuclear power plants Brokdorf in Schleswig-Holstein, Grohnde in Lower Saxony and Gundremmingen C in Bavaria will go offline on Friday evening.
With the shutdown of these locations, the nuclear phase-out in Germany is entering its final phase.
A year later, the last three Akw will go offline.
Three lignite power plants will also be shut down
According to the operator Preussenelektra, the Akw Brokdorf and Grohnde are scheduled to shut down shortly before midnight;
In addition, three smaller lignite power plants in North Rhine-Westphalia will go offline on Friday as part of the coal phase-out.
