The "jungle raft trip" in Europa-Park Rust has been criticized for years because it serves racist and colonial stereotypes.
Blacks were portrayed as wild natives, whites as colonial rulers in safari outfits.
The amusement park had already recognized in 2017 how damaging this presentation can be and announced changes.
Five years later, after the criticism of the attraction did not stop, a complete renovation is to follow.
A spokeswoman for the park in Rust told the dpa news agency that the newly designed raft trip in the leisure facility should be completely ready at the start of the season next year - and will flow through »Austria« in the future.
"Colonial Food" became "Adventure Food"
The redesign of the jungle trip was decided several years ago, said the spokeswoman.
"Corona delayed the plans," it said.
Europa-Park had rejected allegations of racism and discrimination in this connection last year and only made small adjustments.
For example, the figure of a black man riding a cable car under a monkey disappeared - and was replaced by a white figure.
Europa-Park renamed a food stand called "Colonial Food Station" the "Adventure Food Station".
Wild water slide through Austria
The controversial raft trip is now to be assigned to the topic of »Austria« in the future, announced Europa-Park.
In the area of the amusement park there are rides such as a Tyrolean wild water ride and the Alpenexpress »Enzian«.
"This weekend you have the last chance to set sail with the jungle raft trip!" It was currently on the Facebook page of the park.
Two other stations, the "Flight of the Icarus" and the "Traumzeit Dome", will also be closed permanently, said the spokeswoman.
