Ski tours on the Mieminger Plateau
Unfold the Wankspitze area (2208 meters)
Ski tour, easy, 2.5 to 3 hours, 1080 meters in altitude
Character:
Easy ski tour without technical difficulties, almost always groomed.
There is hardly any avalanche danger on the descent along the ascent track.
Caution is advised when descending directly from the summit.
Starting point / end point:
Gasthof Arzkasten (1150 meters), chargeable parking lot (four euros)
Route:
Follow the road to the Lehnberghaus to the first bridge.
Cross this and follow a narrow forest aisle to the left (not along the toboggan run).
Later a short distance along the toboggan run to just before the Lehnberghaus.
Right towards northeast through a wide aisle up to about 1600 meters.
Here on the right through the light forest towards the east to the »Lacke«.
On a broad ridge to the north over hilly terrain up to the »cannon barrel«.
To the left of it, stay on your back and the easy way to the summit.
Variants: Descend directly from the summit very steeply into the ditch that leads to the forest lane above the Lehnberghaus (only in safe conditions), or just below the summit (west) into the notch that leads down to Obermieming (return by taxi).
Refreshment :
Gasthaus Arzkasten
Open area Simmering (2096 meters)
Ski tour, easy, 2.5 to 3 hours, 1090 meters in altitude
Character:
Easy ski tour without technical difficulties.
Ideal for beginners, as long as you stay on the forest path on the descent.
Beautiful panoramic mountain.
Starting point / end point:
Grünberglift valley station near Obsteig, Gruenberglift.at
Route:
From the parking lot along the ski slope towards Zwischenensimmering.
Later, follow the toboggan run to the Holzerhütte (hunting lodge) and continue flat over the saddle, known as the intermediate simmering.
Past the second hunting lodge, always stay on the toboggan run (forest path) or shorten the hairpin bends in the forest.
Shortly before the Simmering-Alm, climb over the now free ski area to the west to a small wooden cross and almost flat to the southwest to the broad northeast ridge.
Over this ridge to the broad summit of the Simmering.
If you want to stop off at the Simmering-Alm, you have to keep to the left on the descent so as not to lose too much height.
From the Alm you can ski down in the forest when there is high snowfall (steep).
Refreshment:
Simmering-Alm
Open the Jöchle area (from Gasthof Arzkasten)
