The grand coalition had already granted an extension of the deadline for the 2020 tax return last year.

But the delay for tax advisors is not enough, says the Bund der Steuerpayers (BdSt).

He is calling for longer deadlines due to the corona crisis.

Actually, consultants must have submitted their clients' tax returns for 2020 by the end of May at the latest.

Because of the high workload in the pandemic, this is currently difficult, said the association.

The Taxpayers' Federation is therefore calling for a postponement until the end of August.

»The need for the BdSt is obvious: the tax consultants apply for economic aid, take care of the short-time work allowance and are especially at their clients' side in times of coronavirus - in this current crisis, the experts in their law firms are increasingly getting involved to the limit, ”announced the association.

President Reiner Holznagel appealed to the Bundestag Finance Committee to extend the deadline again.

The topic is on the agenda for this Wednesday, and the Union parliamentary group is also campaigning for an extension.
