Under the title “Technology of Vital Projects and Finance,” the work of the third economic forum, organized by the Syrian International Investment Development Center under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, in cooperation with economic activities and scientific bodies, was launched this evening at the Sheraton Damascus Hotel.

Over the course of two days, the participants in the forum will discuss several axes aimed at activating advanced scientific technology in vital projects, keeping pace with economic agreements, putting forward strategic projects in accordance with the vision of the national economy, linking them with financiers, partners or shareholders, contributing to the launch of faltering vital projects, explaining the concept of small, medium and large projects, and supporting methods of cooperation and partnership. Financing and realizing the policy of financing institutions and companies in the appropriate market for financing and highlighting the Syrian-Emirati cooperation and offering ways to develop and enhance it.

Rania Ahmed, Assistant Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade for Economic Development Affairs, stressed in a speech that support for economic recovery and the launch of the reconstruction process must be based on the implementation and follow-up of vital development projects and keeping pace with the latest global technologies because modern technology contributes to achieving added values ​​and represents a solution to many technical problems.

In a speech at the Syrian International Investments Development Center, Rasha Moussa pointed out that the center is keen to establish coherence between the various events and bodies in all areas of creativity within the fields of work.

Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture, Mohamed Kishto, stressed the importance of turning to non-traditional investments in all sectors, especially agriculture, because it is a basic need in light of the successive food crises worldwide, calling for a focus on agriculture and the establishment of a new productive culture through the application of good agricultural practices in accordance with international standards.

Dr. Majd al-Jamali, Director-General of the Supreme Council for Scientific Research, said: We strive to be at the heart of the business world, which has its rules, ideas, proposals and ambitions. To support important scientific research, contribute to its financing and marketing, and link it to current and future development needs.

Dr. Bahjat Akroush, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the “Innovators for a Homeland” Foundation, saw that keeping pace with the economic and technological development in the world has become a title for the stage, and an economy cannot be built without a qualitative development in thought and the way economic projects are presented.

Madian Diab, Director General of the Syrian Investment Authority, spoke about the new investment law No. 18 of 2021, which aims to create a competitive investment environment to attract capital and benefit from various expertise and specializations, calling for the introduction of biotechnology projects of all kinds.

Samia Al-Maari, Deputy Director General of the Local Production and Exports Support Authority, gave a presentation on the authority's contribution to the development of the national economy by directing bank loans in favor of targeted productive projects with high value-added and large employment, reducing the costs of the production and export process, and supporting the access of Syrian goods and products to foreign markets.

The opening of the forum was attended by a number of ministers' assistants, a number of members of the People's Assembly, members of the Chambers of Industry and Agriculture, a number of representatives of Arab and foreign diplomatic missions in Damascus, and a crowd of stakeholders.
