With the participation of 45 beekeepers from different provinces, the third Syrian honey festival, which is held by the Syria branch of the Arab Beekeepers Union in cooperation with the Union, opened today in Tishreen Sports City in Damascus.

The festival, which will continue until the twenty-sixth of this month, aims to introduce bee products and their types and the latest products used in beekeeping.

The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Engineer Muhammad Hassan Qatana, announced in a statement to reporters that a laboratory will soon be opened in the Ministry of Agriculture to enable breeders to analyze honey at reduced prices, pointing out that work is continuing to develop a map of natural pastures for nectar and bee plants to help breeders know their whereabouts and the time needed to move to them and know the ability The plant can accommodate a specified number of cells in cooperation with the indicative units.

In turn, the head of the Arab Beekeepers Union, Syria branch, Iyad Daaboul, pointed to the great diversity in the products of the participants this year and the competition among beekeepers by presenting their products in new marketing forms, pointing out that the Arab Beekeepers Union worked on finding a map that facilitates the work of beekeepers, regardless of exploring pastures by helping them identify The load of the pasture, its location, and the number of cells in the place to which it intends to transfer the cells.

The head of the Arab Beekeepers Union, Fathi Al-Behairi, stated that the union aims to develop the beekeeping sector in the Arab world, and the beginning was in the honey marketing festivals that link the product to the consumer and help him promote his products himself without relying on companies, in addition to introducing new products made by beekeepers and teaching young breeders how to package honey And marketing it to the benefit of the producer and the consumer.

The two participants, Amjad Ali from Lattakia Governorate and Hassan Fatiha from Tartous Governorate, pointed out that their first participation in the festival constitutes an opportunity to introduce their products and market them directly to the consumer at lower prices and without an intermediary.

In turn, the participant, Amin Al-Qabqli, stated that he presents his product in a new way in wooden barrels that absorb the moisture of honey and give it more viscosity and protect it from heat and cold, in addition to participating in a device of a local design, which is a model of a mini-lab for drying pollen using warm air to come out in the form of small, non-sintered granules where it was exposed Pollen is caused by improper drying and is a project that needs to be adopted and spread among beekeepers.

In turn, the agricultural engineer, Sayed Al-Shawa, explained that he participates in the home cell that contains a side ventilator that is useful in treating allergies, asthma and chest diseases, harvesting honey, and a “bee venom collecting device” that works to stun the bee with a light electric current to sting a crystal plate in the device, after which the poison is scraped About him and collecting it for use in the treatment of rheumatic diseases and the manufacture of cosmetic creams.

It is noteworthy that the festival is held on the sidelines of the second Arab forum for the development of the beekeeping sector and its products, which opened this morning with the participation of five Arab countries and will last for three days.
