»Blue fire Megacoaster powered by Nord Stream 2«, »Nord Stream 2 Dome« and formerly even »Gazprom Erlebniswelt«: The close connection to the Russian state economy was already reflected in the name of these attractions in Europa-Park.
Carried.
Germany's largest amusement park in Rust and the gas pipeline operator Nord Stream 2 have suspended their cooperation with immediate effect because of the war in Ukraine.
This was announced by a spokeswoman for the park in the Ortenau district.
She did not give any details.
For Nord Stream 2 a kind of cultural sponsorship
The roller coaster "blue fire Megacoaster" and the "blue fire Dome", in which the public is supposed to get impressions of the underwater world of the Baltic Sea on large LED screens, have already been renamed on the website.
The company Nord Stream 2 listed the attractions under cultural sponsorship.
The Europa Park spokeswoman did not say what the sums were and how much money flowed from Russia.
According to the "Badischer Zeitung", the roller coaster has been sponsored by Nord Stream 2 since 2009, i.e. by the subsidiary of the Russian gas company Gazprom.
After the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border had deteriorated earlier in the week, the federal government stopped the approval process for the Russian-German Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline. Europa-Park, which is currently on winter break, then initially declared that it was strictly between Separating politics and business and always being in exchange with the partners on cooperation »against the background of current developments«.
Other well-known associations or companies that have business relationships with the Russian economy are now cutting them off.
Second division soccer club Schalke 04 announced that they would not use the name of the Russian state-owned company in the future.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the "Climate Foundation", which is partly financed by taxpayers' money, recently turned away from Nord Stream 2, which actually wanted to support the large-scale fossil project.
