Numerous flight cancellations are threatened at Cologne/Bonn Airport on Monday.
The reason is an announced all-day warning strike by the security staff.
After an appeal from the airport, all passengers should therefore contact their airline or tour operator to find out about the current status of their flight before arriving at the airport.
In addition, passengers were asked to reduce their hand luggage to a minimum in order to speed up the controls.
As a result of the warning strike, “significant disruptions to flight operations and numerous flight cancellations are to be expected,” the airport said.
According to the announcement, 64 departures and 62 landings with 13,000 passengers are planned.
The Ver.di trade union has called on employees in the airport's aviation security area to stop working from midnight to midnight.
According to Ver.di, passenger control is affected by the warning strike.
Most recently, the union had called for a warning strike at Düsseldorf Airport on Friday.
160 flights had to be canceled there.
A collective bargaining dispute is currently going on in the aviation security industry.
In two rounds of talks on increasing the fees for security forces at commercial airports, no agreement has been reached so far.
Ver.di is negotiating nationwide for around 25,000 industry employees with the Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS).
The negotiations will continue on March 1st and 2nd, 2022 in Berlin.
