European shares closed sharply lower today after a string of bank losses and fluctuations in oil prices.
According to Reuters, the pan-European Stoxx 600 index fell by two percent, while the index of miners rose 0.6 percent and reached its highest level since 2008 during the session.
A session that witnessed fluctuations in oil prices today caused the European oil and gas sector index to decline by 3.8 percent and the banking sector index to fall by 1.6 percent.
