The price of gold in spot transactions rose 1.6 percent to $1965.97 an ounce, bringing its gains this week to about four percent.
Reuters reported that US gold futures rose 1.6 percent when settling to $196.6 an ounce.
In turn, the price of palladium jumped today, exceeding $3,000 an ounce for the first time since last May, and it increased in spot transactions 8.4 percent to $3008.74 an ounce during the session.
Silver rose two percent in spot transactions to $25.67 an ounce and is heading for the fifth consecutive weekly increase, while platinum rose 3.4 percent to $1117.06 an ounce.
