The mayor of Paris calls for the closure of 45 "dark stores" opened "illegally"

The mayor of Paris has asked the various actors of "quick commerce", the delivery of ultra-fast shopping at home, the closure of 45 "dark stores" which were

"illegally created"

"Out of 65 dark stores that have been instructed"

by the town hall's urban planning services following feedback from Parisians,

"45 are illegal",

These “dark stores” are considered by the town hall and the urban planning departments as warehouses, whereas the premises in which they have been installed are most often commercial premises.

"To transform a business into a warehouse, the actors of quick commerce should have requested authorization, even a building permit in certain cases, and they did not do so, which is a violation of the town planning code",

he detailed at the end of a meeting to which all the players in this booming sector since the Covid-19 epidemic were invited.

Underground car parks planned

The actors present were, according to the town hall of Paris: Cajoo, Gorillas, Flink, Glovo, GoPuff, Yango Deli, Zapp, Rohlik, Bam courses, Frichti, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
