These aids, while the executive has just announced in Le Parisien the discount at the pump of 15 cents per liter, should be implemented.

New boost.

The government is preparing targeted measures to help “big rollers” pay for their gasoline this summer, Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire announced on Monday.

"I am working at the request of the Prime Minister on devices targeted at people with the lowest incomes, who use their vehicle because they have no alternative solution, and who are heavy riders", indicated the minister in front of the automotive industry at an event in Paris.

This "quasi-automatic mechanism that can be triggered, for those who need it most, when fuel prices explode" is being developed and will be ready in "several months", according to Bruno Le Maire.

“The goal is that by July 31, we have put in place a measure that will affect those who are the most dependent, the big rollers.

It will be put in place from this summer, ”said the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili on RTL.

As inflation sets in, the government has multiplied aid and measures since the fall to limit the rise in energy prices or mitigate its impact.

Latest decision to date, less than a month before the presidential election, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Saturday in Le Parisien a "discount at the pump of 15 centimes per liter" of fuel, from April 1 and during four months, for individuals and businesses.

Government aid plan presented on Wednesday

The prices of all fuels, and in particular diesel, have been rising continuously for more than two months, in France as in the rest of Europe and elsewhere, making it one of the important topics of the electoral campaign, with the inflation in general.

The rise was caused by oil production failing to keep pace with the strong global economic recovery, which was further accelerated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
