The trade union Ver.di extends the warning strikes at the passenger controls to other German airports.

For Tuesday, employees in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden are called upon to temporarily stop working, as the union announced.

At the largest German airport in Frankfurt, only transit passengers are to be processed from the start of operations, said a Ver.di spokesman.

The airport operator Fraport also expects significant impairments for most of the approximately 79,000 passengers expected for Tuesday.

According to Fraport, the security checks outside the transit area will be completely closed.

Therefore, no one can board a flight from Frankfurt.

Only transfer passengers may be able to continue their journey.

The step marks a further escalation in the ongoing wage conflict between Ver.di and the Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS).

Hundreds of flights had already been canceled on Monday because of the warning strike at six airports.

In Düsseldorf, around 160 of the around 290 flights originally planned had been canceled, the airport said.

As a precaution, 82 of the planned 136 passenger flights have already been canceled at Cologne/Bonn Airport.

And at Berlin Brandenburg Airport, around two thirds of the planned flights are cancelled.

increase of one euro

The union is negotiating with the employers' association about a new collective agreement for around 25,000 security forces nationwide.

So far, three rounds of negotiations have ended without a result.

The next attempt will start on March 16th and 17th.

Ver.di demands a contract for twelve months and hourly wages to be increased by at least one euro.

The ADV already criticized the first call for a strike as »not proportionate«.

"We appeal to the collective bargaining partners to seek an agreement at the negotiating table on the disputed points," said managing director Ralph Beisel.
