The Russian currency, the ruble, continued to rise against the dollar and the euro.
The Russia Today website stated that the dollar was trading today below the level of 94 rubles, and thus the Russian currency compensated for a large part of its previous losses.
The dollar exchange rate fell by 2.51 rubles to 93.49 rubles, while the euro exchange rate fell by 3.6 rubles to 104.4 rubles.
The Russian currency witnessed a rise against the dollar and the euro during the past sessions after Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Russian government to transfer payments for natural gas exports from Russia towards Europe to the ruble currency instead of the euro within a week.
