Presidential 2022: Anne Hidalgo's promises for women

The socialist candidate undertakes, if she is elected on April 24, to restore a ministry of women's rights, with a budget of 1 billion euros. Overview of his other commitments.


During a visit to the association Du Côté des Femmes, in Sarcelles, at the end of January she deplored the “inaction” of the current government in the fight against “feminicides”, “sexist, gendered representations”, and “barriers and glass ceiling" that still affect women in the world of work.

A cause which he had nevertheless made "the great cause of the quinquennium", added Anne Hidalgo.



The socialist candidate then made a bitter observation: “In 2022, the situation of women remains unacceptable in our country.”

A situation that the mayor of Paris intends to change if she wins the presidential election on April 24.

Among the measures proposed in its program: the fight against gynecological violence, the extension of paternity leave, or the penalization of companies that do not respect parity.

Anne Hidalgo wishes to give each family a place in collective reception or financial assistance to offset the cost of care at home or by a maternal assistant.

It intends to increase the supply of crèche places from 470,000 to 600,000 in ten years.



She wants to make crèches more inclusive to fight against the non-recourse of the most fragile families and to welcome children with disabilities.

It intends to allocate the back-to-school allowance from the start of nursery school, and no longer at the age of 6 as it was until now.

Anne Hidalgo plans to make public the list of companies that do not respect parity and impose penalties on them.

She also proposes to reverse the burden of proof, so that it is up to the company to prove that it is not guilty of wage discrimination.



She also believes that wages are too low in France, especially for women who are in the lowest paid jobs.

She proposes a 15% increase in the Smic, and thinks that this measure will benefit two-thirds of women.

Instead of the creation of a fourth year of medical internship planned by the outgoing government, Anne Hidalgo plans a year of professionalization as a doctor-assistant in the medical deserts at the end of the course of medical interns.

It also wants to fight against gynecological violence by financially penalizing the healthcare professionals targeted, but also by training them and raising their awareness of this issue.

Anne Hidalgo wants to implement this measure, which is a "deconjugalization" of the disabled adult allowance.

Violence against women



Support for victims.

Anne Hidalgo provides social and psychological support for women and children who witness violence, and the prioritization in the social park of victims of domestic violence.

It intends to set up a child protection policy, against sexual abuse, incest, and the denial of rights.

She wants to restore a full-fledged Women's Rights Ministry, with a budget of 1 billion euros.

"Because violence against women is one of the main causes of insecurity in our society, I will adopt measures such as [...] the training of police officers, gendarmes, magistrates, the presence of social workers in police stations and gendarmeries”, she adds in her program.

The candidate proposes to create police units and specialized magistrates, then to perpetuate the existence of a specific prosecution, “as it is experienced in Nantes”.

The perpetrators of violence against women will incur aggravated criminal penalties and the removal of violent spouses.
