Official statistics showed that the inflation rate in Spain rose to its highest level in 37 years in light of the rise in consumer prices all over the world.
And the US agency (Bloomberg) quoted the National Statistics Office as saying, "Inflation in Spain recorded its highest level this month and rose to 9.8 percent over the past year, an increase on the annual inflation rate of 7.6 percent that was reported last month."
The Statistics Office indicated that inflation increased, driven by the rise in electricity, fuel, food and beverage prices.
Spain is among the 19 countries that use the euro currency, which saw a record rise in inflation last month.
In turn, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said, "73 percent of the price increases are due to the turmoil in the energy and agricultural markets due to the Ukrainian crisis."
Core inflation, which does not include energy or food products, rose 3.4 percent in Spain, its highest since September 2008.
