“We remain fully committed to welcoming and supporting displaced Ukrainians towards employment.

600 companies have already been mobilized with 7,000 job offers,” tweeted Elisabeth Borne after a meeting on the professional integration of refugees with the Minister for Citizenship Marlène Schiappa.

The Ministry of Labor had announced in mid-March the launch of a portal dedicated to the reception of displaced persons on the site “Les entreprises s'engage”.

In particular, it contains a module where they can specify their hiring intentions and the type of position concerned.

Jobs in accommodation and catering

Emphasizing that "access to employment is fundamental to enable people who have been brutally exiled to find the means for a certain autonomy", the ministry indicated to AFP that the challenge is to "transform the strong commitment of companies" into "concrete solutions, job offers, internships, company immersion, material commitments, etc".

The companies that have come forward are around 85% of VSEs / SMEs, spread over the whole territory, with a wide variety of sectors, in particular that in tension of accommodation and catering, we indicate to the ministry.

Concretely, the Pôle emploi teams have access to these companies ready to welcome displaced people - around 36,000 from Ukraine to France, according to a last government report on Friday - and accompany them when they report to the prefecture and register as job seekers.

An insertion time required

Pôle emploi then makes a more in-depth diagnosis of their profile, their level of French proficiency, their diplomas, etc.

And can then remove the last obstacles to access to the labor market, such as the question of housing or childcare, before offering these profiles to employers.

Some may also be directed towards integration structures, while the Federation of integration companies announced in mid-March that it was offering 10,000 jobs to be filled by the end of June.

"There is a demand", but it is too early to draw up an initial assessment of professional integration, the ministry is told, in particular because it takes time to support these refugees, the majority of whom are women rather qualified.

In total, more than 4 million Ukrainian refugees have fled their country since the invasion ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, according to figures from the High Commission for Refugees.
