Amazon plans to hire more than 6,000 new employees in Germany this year.
By the end of the year, the number of employees at the US company in Germany is expected to rise to 36,000, according to the German subsidiary of the IT group and online retailer.
From 2010 to 2020, Amazon invested more than 36.5 billion euros in Germany, with a large part of the investments flowing into jobs and the development and expansion of infrastructure.
According to Amazon, it now has more than 100 locations and around 17 logistics centers in Germany.
The new jobs are to be created in all business areas and at all locations, from warehouses to research and development.
1.6 million employees worldwide
Logistics employees, whose working conditions are repeatedly criticized by unions, earn the equivalent of at least 12 euros gross per hour at Amazon.
According to the company, after 24 months, Amazon employees in Germany receive an average of around 2,750 euros gross per month.
Amazon has grown rapidly worldwide in recent years.
At the end of last year, the group employed a total of 1.6 million people, most of whom are still in the USA.
This makes the Group one of the world's largest private employers.
