Syrian-Indonesian talks to boost trade cooperation between the two countries

The Chargé d'Affairs of the Syrian Embassy in Jakarta, Abdel Moneim Annan, discussed with the President of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, Arshad Rashid, ways to improve trade relations between the two countries.

Annan indicated that the aim of the meeting is to conduct an interactive dialogue on ways to raise the level of cooperation between the two countries, pointing to the investment law in Syria and the areas and projects that are currently focused on investing in them.

For his part, Rashid affirmed the Indonesian side's desire to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Syrian side and hold a virtual meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Business Sectors in Syria, and then move on to cooperation at the governmental level.

He pointed out that Indonesia has many companies in the areas of innovation, technology, digital economy, financial and interconnected technologies, which are useful during the reconstruction process in Syria, stressing the importance of communication and networking between the relevant authorities in the two countries in preparation for a broader and more comprehensive cooperation.

He pointed out that Syria will be invited to participate in the B20 Business Summit, which will be held in parallel with the G20 Summit in Bali in October 2022, which will focus on three axes: global health, digital transformation and energy transformation.

The meeting was attended from the Indonesian side by Shinta Widaya Kamdani, Vice-President of the Chamber, Bernardino Vega, Vice-President of the Chamber for International Relations, and Dharma Dojojunigor, the Chamber's Middle East official, while on the Syrian side, the Economic and Commercial Attache at the Embassy, ​​Muhammad Nahed Muhairi, attended the meeting.
