Washington-Sana

Natural gas prices in the United States set a record, rising to their highest level since 2008, affected by the situation caused by the Russian special military operation to protect Donbass.

According to US media, gas futures jumped by 10 percent, to trade at a high level of $8.05 per million British thermal units, the highest level in 13 years.

“The impact of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia is likely to be long-term for North American natural gas markets,” said David Givens, president of North American Natural Gas and Energy Services.

Over the course of the current year, natural gas prices in the United States have risen by 108 percent, adding to inflationary fears.

This percentage is lower than in Europe, where natural gas futures have risen to record levels in light of the current geopolitical conditions.
