The Russian Central Bank reported today that Russia's international reserves rose in the week ending on April 15 by $1.7 billion to reach $611.1 billion.
And the website of Russia Today channel quoted the bank as saying in a statement, "The reserves, which include gold and foreign exchange, increased from the 8th of this April to the 15th of the same month by 0.3 percent, or 1.7 billion dollars."
For comparison, on the 8th of April, international reserves reached the level of $609.4 billion, which represents a remarkable increase despite the sanctions recently imposed by Western countries on Russia.
It is noteworthy that Russia's international reserves are highly liquid foreign assets that include foreign exchange, gold and special drawing rights.
