Online sports betting boosts gambling in France

In 2021, the sector's turnover increased by 7% compared to the previous year, and now reaches 10.7 billion euros.


A year of recovery, thanks to sports betting and the lottery.

In 2021, the turnover of gambling in France increased by 7% compared to 2020, to reach 10.7 billion, according to the National Gaming Authority (ANJ), responsible for regulation of the market.

This figure, 400 million lower than that of 2019, gives the measure of a sector which is recovering in dispersed order from the Covid crisis.

In addition to online games (sports and horse racing betting, poker offered by 15 operators), it includes offers from La Française des jeux and PMU sold in physical outlets, the activity of 235 racetracks, that of 202 casinos and seven Parisian gaming clubs.
