Who oversees the "Discounted Apartment" raffle that opened today?

The "Apartment at a Discount" lottery was launched today in a festive and publicity event, but why the answers will only be given in May - and why it is not clear how the lotteries are held, who grills and who supervises?

The lottery for the discounted apartments, to which about 119 eligible people registered, started today.

Although the lotteries that will be held today are performed by a computer, we will only know their results during the coming month of May.

The Minister of Construction and Housing, Zeev Elkin, opened the first lottery of the "Apartment at a Discount" program this morning, accompanied by the chairman of his party, Tikva Hadash, and the Minister of Justice, Gideon Saar, under the director general of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Aviad Friedman.

Over the next few days, 150 different lotteries will be held, to which 119,207 households have registered to draw 10,053 apartments in 31 localities throughout the country.

Among them: Beer Yaakov, Lod, Ashdod, Jerusalem, Acre, Dimona, Rishon Lezion and more.

As mentioned, the lottery results are expected to be delivered to the winners during the month of May.

Those who did not have time to register for the raffles that are currently taking place will be able to register for eligibility for the next raffle, which will take place in July, during the month of June, however new eligibility certificates can be issued from today.

For the public, but away from the public eye

The lotteries held today were colored by a computerized system without human contact, run by a committee and supervised by a certified public accountant - while the results are calculated in a closed lottery room, in the presence of a lottery committee that monitors, checks and seals the lottery results

. For example, a vacation abroad among its customers must be supervised and transparent, since in the case of an apartment lottery - a life dream for many young couples (and in a more reasonable case: discouragement to others), it is not entirely clear who is the grill factor and who is the supervising factor.

The Ministry of Housing quite strangely refused to provide more details about the identity of the company that conducts the lotteries, but if this refusal can still be understood against the background of the fear that improper pressures will be exerted on the grill party, how will the Ministry of Housing explain the refusal to bring in journalists? ?

It is not clear why the Ministry of Housing holds the cards close to the chest and does not allow more information about the lotteries, since this is an issue where "the public's right to know" should be the basis for the lottery.

In any case, in the official answer to Walla's question: Can we watch the lottery itself?

We got the following amazing answer: "There is no approval from the inspection company."

A very puzzling claim when it comes to the fate of hundreds of thousands of citizens in Israel
