The Central Bureau of Statistics, the Central Bureau of Statistics, publishes today the employment report for the economy, which shows another decline, this time even particularly sharp, in the unemployment rate in Israel - from 3.7% in the second half of March, to only 2.9% in the first two weeks of April

. If we take into account an increase of about half a percent in the unemployment rate between the first two weeks of March (3.2%) and its second half (3.7%), this is still a significant decrease,

according

to the data:

March

2022.

• Percentage of the labor force of non-employed persons who stopped working due to dismissal or closure of the workplace from March 2020 + employed persons who are temporarily absent from work all week due to reasons related to the Corona virus + unemployed - 4.4% (5.3% in the second half of March 2022).

• Employment rate excluding temporarily absent from work all week for corona-related reasons - 61.0% (61.3% in the second half of March 2022).

It now remains to be seen whether this is a seasonally skewed figure, since the first half of April was in fact the two weeks leading up to Passover, a period characterized by active economic activity, including temporary work, or whether it is a real and steady decline.

The average monthly salary per employee: NIS 12,052

At the same time, the CBS also calculates the data on the average wage

per employee job in the economy, the data refer to February 2022 and reflect a minimal decrease (of NIS 10 per month) from the data in January 2022.

February 2022 - according to original data (Israeli workers)

Current prices were NIS 12,052, almost unchanged from February 2021 (NIS 12,062).

• The average wage per employee post at constant prices (deducted from the monthly consumer price index) was NIS 11,048, a decrease of 3.5% compared to February 2021 (NIS 11,444).

• Number of jobs The employee was 3.833 million, an increase of 16.3% compared to February 2021 (3.296 million) and almost unchanged compared to January 2022 (3.831 million).

The reason for the 3.5% drop in wages deducted from purchasing power, compared to February 2021 data, is mainly explained by two factors: the first is the return of hundreds of thousands of Israelis to the labor force, most of them to lower monthly wages and the rise in inflation over the past year.
