Yet, as soon as Russia invaded Ukraine, Putin's restaurants became the target of insults and threats.
La Maison de la Poutine (two restaurants in Paris, one in Toulouse) received an avalanche of abusive calls.
“Our employees were harassed on the phone,
says Guillaume Natas, co-founder of the brand.
Some were afraid.
I explained on Instagram that we are in no way connected to the Russian regime and its president and I gave our support to the Ukrainian people.
This post went around the world and calmed the situation.
Since then, we have been receiving messages of support.”
The windows of the three restaurants still display their support for Ukraine.
Never has the brand been so exposed, without it playing either down or up, on attendance.
