Austrian Minister of Digitalization and Economy Margaret Schrambock has renewed her country's opposition to imposing a ban on the import of Russian gas, saying that this is a "red line".

“The gas embargo is a clear red line for Austria,” Schrambock said in an interview published by Funk Media Group today, and stressed that some countries should not send signals about this if it is difficult to implement.

Schrambock pointed out that Austria and Germany cannot tolerate this, as the embargo does more harm to both countries than it brings any benefit.

Austrian Finance Minister Magnus Brunner warned last month that imposing a ban on gas imports from Russia would cause great harm to his country's economy, saying that "the Austrian industry depends heavily on Russian gas."
