Those who work for a large company often have a better salary than average earners. According to a newspaper report, some corporations pay particularly high remuneration.

Apparently, one Essen-based company earns particularly well: The electricity company RWE pays an average annual salary of 116,000 euros to its employees in Germany, as reported by the »Rheinische Post«.

The information comes from the company's remuneration report, which actually explains the salaries of the board of directors.

When asked by the newspaper, RWE said it had 14,200 employees in Germany.

Recently, the German Stock Corporation Act stipulates that companies must not only disclose the remuneration of their top executives in the report, but also provide information on the salaries of the broad workforce in order to be able to compare the remuneration of the executive and supervisory boards.

Some other corporations also state the average remuneration of their employees in Germany in their remuneration reports.

The »Rheinische Post« researched data on the corporations based in North Rhine-Westphalia in particular.

Henkel earns 91,924 euros per person, E.on 74,000 euros, Thyssenkrupp 64,689 euros, and Post 50,214 euros per person on average per year.

However, it should be noted that bonuses and special payments are included in these totals.

For comparison: The average gross salary of all employees in Germany is 49,200 euros gross.

According to the report, the average remuneration at the chemical company Bayer is even 104,000 euros – however, a footnote shows that employer contributions to social security were included here.

If these are deducted, this roughly corresponds to an annual gross salary of just over 85,000 euros.

It is unclear to what extent the employer contributions to social insurance – which, depending on the specific contribution rate in health insurance, are usually around 20 percent of the gross salary – are included in the average remuneration given for the other groups mentioned.
