An opinion poll revealed that 66 percent of Turks expressed their lack of confidence in the ability of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to reform the economic situation in the country.
The poll, conducted by the "Metropol" research institute, and the results of which were published by the Turkish newspaper Zaman, indicated that "two-thirds of Turkish voters, or 66.2 percent, have lost confidence in the ability of the Justice and Development Party government to reform the economic situation in light of the crisis of high inflation and the depreciation of the lira."
The poll showed that six out of ten voters believe that Erdogan will not be able to solve economic problems.
Data from the Turkish Statistical Authority indicate that inflation rates have risen to about 70 percent annually.
And the Turkish "Active Haber" website recently revealed that cadres in the ruling Justice and Development Party are discussing the possible loss of the upcoming parliamentary elections, in parallel with the continued decline in the party's popularity rate in electoral polls.
