The tax authorities grant taxpayers a short delay.
The Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFiP) warned on Wednesday that French people who still declare their income in paper format will have until May 31 to fulfill their tax obligations.
Initially, they had until May 19 to do so.

The administration justifies this additional delay by its own delays in sending the necessary documents to the tax households concerned.
“Some users received their pre-filled 2021 tax return in paper format significantly later than in previous years”
, explains the DGFiP in a press release.
A minority of French people still use paper tax returns.
“A little less than 5% of the users to whom these declarations are addressed”
are concerned, specifies the DGFiP.
On the other hand,
"the schedule for filing declarations online is not modified"
, recalls the DGFiP.
