Former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl has warned of the repercussions of imposing a European ban on Russian gas imports, saying that this would lead to difficult times for Germany.
Kneissl said in an interview with the Russian RT channel that the ban on Russian gas would lead to difficult times for Germany and that the Bundesbank and the heads of major companies shared this view.
Kneissl noted that giving up fuel from Russia would lead to mass layoffs in the chemical industry and a much larger recession than economists expected.
Economist Achim Troeger had earlier warned of the repercussions of the Russian gas embargo on the German economy, indicating that imposing such a ban would lead to a deep recession and collapse of the German economy.
