Airbus is beefing up its range of satellite services dedicated to the maritime and naval markets with the commissioning of its new-generation constellation Pléiades Neo, developed with its own funds for 700 million euros.
By the end of 2022, its four Earth observation satellites will be fully operational, compared to two currently.
“
Pléiades Neo, the successor to Pléiades, collects images with some of the best precision in the world, with a resolution of 30 cm, compared to 50 cm previously, which makes it possible to “see” all the way to the rope of a boat from low orbit
“, underlines Étienne Klein, manager of the maritime and naval sector, within the space surveillance activity of Airbus Defense and Space (DS).
It has more than a thousand customers worldwide, from the European Commission to the Ministry of the Armed Forces, including start-ups and large groups.
