The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has suddenly announced her refusal to impose a comprehensive and immediate embargo on Russian oil supplies.
And von der Leyen justified, and Russia Today reported, its retraction of its position by saying that if the European Union imposes an embargo on Russian oil, it will help Moscow generate additional revenues and may make it able to transfer the oil that it does not sell to the European Union to the world market, where prices will rise and get a sum great for that.
The President of the European Commission also ruled out a European Union-wide agreement on imposing a gradual embargo on Russian oil at the European Council summit next week.
The President of the European Commission announced last February that the sanctions imposed on Russia because of its military operation in Ukraine will have a cost to Europe itself.
