Because of taxation?
The rate of avoiding the use of disposable utensils has doubled
The "Tami 4" water brand conducted a survey that examined the extent of the use of disposable utensils.
The survey shows that in the last 4 years, the proportion of Israelis who avoid single use has doubled to about 40%.
It was also found that 70% of Israelis recycle bottles.

In preparation for Environment Day, which took place at the beginning of the week, Tami 4 (Chartaus) published new data on environmental protection trends among consumers.
The study was conducted last February by the research company Spio, among a representative sample of 905 people from the Jewish population aged 18 and over.
The study shows that
within 4 years there was a double jump of Israelis who do not use disposable tableware (including glasses),
when in 2018 19% of respondents testified that they do not use tableware or disposable cups and in the current study conducted in February this year (2022) 38% testified From the Israelis they refrain from using.
The reason for the leap, beyond the ever-increasing environmental awareness, is probably also the tax recently imposed on disposable utensils that went into effect in November 2021.

"Change in consumer behavior as a result of the taxation law"
Aviv Pepper, Director of Strauss Water Israel
: "Every year there are savings of about 1.3 billion plastic bottles. We are also witnessing a change in consumer behavior regarding the use of disposable utensils, as a result of the taxation law. I expect that as the years go by this phenomenon will disappear. Because it has no economic, environmental or consumer logic. "
The study also shows that 70% of Israelis recycle bottles, 53% use reusable bags and 46% recycle plastic and metal packaging.

"It is not legitimate to consume water in disposable bottles"
Pepper noted that: "The Strauss Water Company regrets the principles of sustainability and environmental protection in all its areas of activity, encourages the whole family to drink more water, and reduce the sweet drinks available in the home, by providing purified and quality water."
"As time goes on, the understanding widens among consumers in Israel that it is no longer legitimate to consume water in disposable bottles, especially when there are more environmentally friendly solutions," Pepper added.
