The Russian Central Bank amended the restrictions imposed on remittances to individuals as of today, after it imposed restrictions at the end of last February to achieve financial stability in Russia.
And the Russia Today website quoted the Central Bank as saying in a statement today, “As of today, Russian citizens and residents of friendly countries have the right to transfer from 50 thousand to 150 thousand dollars or its equivalent in another foreign currency per month from accounts in one of the Russian banks to their account abroad or to another person".
The statement pointed out that through companies that provide money transfer services without opening an account, Russians and residents of friendly countries will be able to transfer no more than 10,000 dollars or the equivalent of this amount in other foreign currencies within a month.
After the launch of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, Western countries, including the European Union, imposed several packages of economic sanctions on Moscow, including the freezing of Russia's international reserves worth $300 billion, and the Russian Central Bank subsequently announced a set of measures to ensure financial stability in the country. Among them, restrictions were imposed on foreign remittances.
