Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has warned that the European Union's insistence on imposing sanctions on Russia and banning Russian gas will destroy the entire economy of Europe.
"The European Union has to change its strategy slowly, because with inflation we will go bankrupt... they want to impose a gas embargo, and then the whole of Europe will be destroyed," Orban was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying in a statement to Radio Kosut.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said last Wednesday that the policy being pursued by the European Union is "extremely cumbersome and wrong", stressing that his country is still convinced that sanctions should not apply to Russian gas supplies, without which the European economy cannot at the present time remain on its feet. Alive.
He added, "Hungary is interested in a "successful and unified European Union", as the union does not need the US-European formula, but rather needs strong member states."
