All of the unions representing SNCF (CGT, Unsa, SUD Rail and CFDT) sent a letter to CEO Jean-Pierre Farandou on Thursday asking him for "emergency and immediate wage measures" in the face of inflation.
“In the inflationary context, we cannot accept that the only mandatory annual negotiations take place in the second half of the year, without other short-term prospects
,” write the unions.

"The SNCF management must take measures to catch up with inflation as quickly as possible, including the indexation of the Smic on all salaries"
, they demand in their missive, affirming that
"since 2014, the salaries of railway workers have been frozen (while) cumulative inflation exceeds 10%”.
They call on Jean-Pierre Farandou to
"open, without delay, negotiations relating to general salary increases, work on hierarchical coefficients, the revaluation of work bonuses, measures to catch up with inflation and indexation of the Smic for wages, but also for all the variable elements”.

These same unions had already sent a letter to the same effect on March 31 to the CEO of the SNCF.
The next mandatory annual negotiations are scheduled for the end of the year for application in 2023. The previous ones included measures for the lowest wages.
More generally, salaries are increasing regularly at SNCF thanks to individual measures, according to management.
"We may have salaries that will increase
," ventured Jean-Pierre Farandou in front of journalists at the end of May during a trip to Strasbourg, noting that the costs of the SNCF were increasing.
