The Italian National Institute of Statistics "Statistic" announced that Italy recorded a trade deficit of 3.6 billion euros last April, compared to a surplus of 5.871 billion euros in the same month last year.
The institute said in a statement reported by the Italian news agency "ANSA" that the energy deficit amounted to 9.111 billion euros, compared to a deficit of 2.849 billion euros in April of last year, pointing to an increase in exports by 14.9 percent last April and imports by 42.4 percent.
The institute pointed out that the import prices rose by 2.7 percent between last March and April, and by 21.2 percent on an annual basis.
