Cut off from their parent company, the Russian subsidiaries of the French giants are working to survive

STORY – The situation is getting more complicated for the French flagships who have remained in the country led by Vladimir Putin.


Long under pressure to leave Russia, many French groups are resisting.

Admittedly, many have already sold their subsidiary, from Renault to Société Générale via Publicis, Schneider Electric, Sodexo and Thalès.

The latter will finalize this week the sale of its last subsidiary in Russia, Thalès DIS, inherited from Gemalto and specialized in the sector of bank cards, SIM cards and digital security.

In fact, a majority of French jewels are still active on the spot, even among those which, such as Danone and Air Liquide, indicated, at the height of the political and media pressure following the speech of the Ukrainian President before the French Parliament, to study withdrawal from Russia.

Others have never considered such an approach, starting with the luxury giants (LVMH, Kering and Hermès).

Their activity is at a standstill, but they continue to pay salaries and rents until the geopolitical situation stabilizes.
