The staff representatives of Deutsche Bahn complained that the 9-euro ticket would mean a significant additional burden for employees in local public transport and demanded compensation.
"The 9-euro ticket means the daily state of emergency for the employees of the transport company," said the Vice Chairman of the General Works Council DB Regio, Ralf Damde, the editorial network Germany (RND).
The federal and state governments would have to ensure that they would be relieved across the industry.
Additional pay and more days off are essential.
Works councils of the railway and transport union EVG emphasized in a letter to the transport ministers of the federal and state governments, which is available to the RND, that cost-effective use of local public transport must not be at the expense of safety and occupational safety.
The ticket, which was previously limited from June to August, has become a “burden package” for Deutsche Bahn employees, they say.
Nevertheless, the 9-euro ticket is basically a successful model.
The trade unionists' appeal: »Prevent us from returning to the old tariff structures after the three months.
You can also support our employees by designing a simple tariff system that is valid everywhere.«
At the beginning of June, after the Pentecost weekend, Deutsche Bahn staff representatives reported that the nine-euro ticket was a heavy burden for employees.
Deutsche Bahn had announced that, according to an internal evaluation, around ten percent more passengers were traveling in regional transport on the first two days of validity, June 1st and 2nd.
The same applies to June 7th and 8th, the two days after the long Pentecost weekend.
According to the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV), around 16 million tickets had already been sold nationwide by mid-June.
In addition, there are at least ten million tickets from subscribers, which are valid as 9-euro tickets for the three months of June, July and August.
