More than 280 former employees of SAM, a former Aveyron subcontractor of Renault, attacked the automotive group before the industrial tribunal and demanded the payment of 15 million euros in compensation, their lawyer said on Tuesday.
Despite this procedure before the industrial tribunal of Rodez, the employees "
are always ready to negotiate
" with Renault, Me Renaud Frechin told AFP.
The 283 employees of the Aveyronnaise Metallurgy Company (SAM), whose cessation of activity was decided last November, are also attacking the legal representatives and the Chinese group Jinjiang, owner of SAM since 2017.

In particular, they are asking for Renault to be recognized as a co-employer, alongside Jinjiang, who "
has not paid anything for SAM for a long time
," said Mr. Frechin.
Therefore, if the employees were successful, Renault could be obliged to pay them all of the nearly 15 million euros in damages claimed.
An occupation of the Viviez factory for 154 days
SAM, located on the heights of Decazeville, had been placed in receivership in December 2019. Its fate was definitively sealed on November 26, when the Toulouse commercial court declared the cessation of its activity, after the refusal of Renault to support the unique takeover project.
The employees then occupied the Viviez factory for 154 days, before obtaining, under the aegis of the prefect of Aveyron, guarantees to avoid the sale of the machines by judicial agents.
This securing of the facilities was intended to give the MH Industries group, based in the neighboring Lot, time to examine the possibility of a possible takeover of the foundry located in the former mining basin of Decazeville.
