The first edition of this festival, which will take place from June 30 to July 3, provides an entertaining approach to the economy and its workings.

One man show, aperitif philosophy or show... Citéco (Cité de L'Économie et de La Monnaie) is multiplying the proposals for its new Écocotiers festival, which will take place from Thursday June 30 to Sunday July 3, 2022 and aims to democratize the economy by adopting an offbeat look, notably via art.

We wanted to talk about the economy as we talk about science at the Cité des sciences.

Citéco was born in 2019, but the COVID cut us in our momentum.

We were only able to do our first season in 2021. The idea was to put some joy into a subject that seems off-putting with all its numbers

, ”says Aurélie Passerel, in charge of cultural and educational action at Citéco.

The project could not have seen the light of day without the Banque de France, owner of the premises which essentially finances the museum.

In 2010, she left the premises and did not know what to do with the premises: then the idea of proposing a museum devoted to the economy germinated in this former private mansion of Emile Gaillard, banker at the end of the 19th century and patron .

The Hôtel Gaillard was then fitted out to present the economy in a fun way.

Citéco wants to show the role of the economy in everyday life, particularly through art.

The museum is dedicated in particular to high school students, with a route articulated around major themes, actors, exchanges, etc.

We talk about the economy, but people often don't understand it because of obscure terminology.

Hence the idea of having a playful course to deal with the economy in a lighter way.

It is indeed

the technical nature of the economy which constitutes an obstacle to its understanding:

it's not for us.

There are people who have not studied economics, I am literary for example, but who want to understand the world around them!

The Écocotiers festival is part of this desire to make the economy accessible to the general public, between "
