French energy giants called for an immediate reduction in energy consumption to face the looming crisis in the wake of the sharp drop in Russian gas shipments as a result of the unjust economic sanctions against Russia.
The weekly Journal du Dimanche quoted the heads of the energy companies Engie, EDF and Total Energy as saying today that consumers and companies in the country will have to collectively reduce their energy consumption immediately in order to be better prepared this winter to tackle the energy crisis. that looms.
The heads of the companies considered that such a step “will restore the country’s margin of maneuver and preserve its gas reserves at a time when Russian gas shipments are declining sharply, in addition to the limited production of electricity in Europe due to maintenance problems.”
The European countries and the United States imposed unfair economic sanctions on Russia against the backdrop of its special military operation in Ukraine to protect the residents of Donbass in late February, and these sanctions led to serious repercussions on the global economy due to the obstruction of Russian oil and gas supplies and the rise in prices to record levels.
