Since April, the international transport giants have been taking a little-used route to import “made in China” products into Europe: a route called the “
middle corridor
”, where the journey is mainly by train, but which includes some boat crossings.

," Maersk said in a statement.
There they are loaded onto a barge to cross the Caspian Sea to Baku, Azerbaijan.
Then they go by train to Poti, Georgia, where they cross the Black Sea by boat to Constanta, Romania.

A hell of a journey, which takes thirty days compared to only twenty for the traditional rail route, further north.
