The inflation rate in Spain reached 10.2 percent in June on an annual basis, the highest in 37 years, according to a preliminary estimate by the National Statistics Institute.
In its statement, the institute indicated that this percentage constitutes an increase of one and a half percentage points to the inflation rate on an annual basis within a month, as it reached 8.7 percent in May.
According to the institute, the rate of 10.2 percent is the highest since April 1985.
He explained that this increase was mainly caused by the increase in the prices of fuels and the prices of food and beverages.
The consumer price index, which allows comparison with other countries in the euro area, was 10 percent on an annual basis, an increase of one and a half percentage points compared to May.
Like most European countries, Spain has been facing an increase in inflation for several months linked to the tensions arising from the resumption of economic activity after the Covid-19 crisis and the war in Ukraine.
