The President of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, announced today that more than 70 foreign banks have joined the Russian Financial Correspondence System, an alternative to the Association for Global Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT).
Russia Today website quoted Nabiullina as saying at the conference of the Russian Federation of Industrialists and Businessmen, "The Russian Bank is ready to connect all institutions to the Russian financial system alternative to Swift, as it has all the necessary technical solutions for this."
She explained that "many partners fear secondary sanctions due to the link to the Russian banking system, so the list of banks that joined us is not disclosed."
And the head of the Russian Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, announced last April that more than 50 foreign companies had joined the Russian financial correspondence system.
